Letter from Mom...

Dear Friends and Family,

Many of you already know that my daughter, Erica and her husband, Aaron decided about two years ago to adopt little girl from China. It has been a long process and sometimes frustrating when it seems we are waiting and waiting and waiting. But they recently received their approval for a beautiful two year old girl. We do not know exactly when we will be able to travel to China but we are praying that she will be home by Christmas.

There is a tradition in China to welcome and celebrate a new life by creating a Bai Jia Bei, or 100 Good Wishes Quilt. Friends and family are invited to contribute a piece of fabric along with a wish for the baby. Part of the fabric goes into the quilt for the baby, and the other part goes into a scrapbook with the wish. The quilt contains the love and good wishes from all the families and friends who contributed and can be passed down from generation to generation.

I have decided to create a quilt for my first granddaughter, Clara YouMei. I want this precious little girl know how much we have planned and longed for her to be part of our family. I would love to have your help.

If you would like to participate in creating this quilt, here’s how:

1.) Choose a large square, at least 12X12, of machine washable, 100% cotton fabric. You can send one square for your family or one for each member of your family.

2.) Write a note with your good wish, prayer or scripture for Clara YouMei, and attach a small piece of the fabric to the note. Please remember to sign your wish and include your city and state.

3.)Post a comment to this blog with your email address and Melisa will send you the mailing address. For your privacy, she will not post comments that include your email address. Feel free to make an additional comment without your email address that she can post.
